"Discrimination by a thousand paper cuts."

What began as a series of interviews with college students developed into something much more expansive when Director Kitty Green began her journey towards making THE ASSISTANT, which provides a searing look at gender and power dynamics in the workplace. “A significant cultural statement in cinematic form.” (Indiewire)

After her lengthy research process, Green found the “infinitely watchable” actress she needed in Julia Garner, and spend 2 months writing the script that follows 1 day in the life of an assistant. Rolling Stone describes the film as displaying “Discrimination by a thousand paper cuts. It speaks volumes.”

Green wanted to focus the film around the female lead, and in doing so, gave equal ‘weight’ through each of the tasks in her work day.

Green has certainly created something that speaks volumes. The Playlist says it best, “Bold and brave. The Assistant feels like a moment of change.”
