Best Indie Movies Coming Spring 2023

Do you love independent cinema as much as we do? We’re highlighting a few films that we can’t wait to see – all coming to the big screen in Spring of 2023. From a psychological thriller where Willem Dafoe plays an art thief trapped in a penthouse to a surrealist horror comedy from Ari Aster, the director of Midsommar, here’s our list of what we can’t wait to see this spring.

Vicky lives with her mother Joanne and father Jimmie, a man struggling to find his place. When Vicky’s aunt Julia arrives after being released from prison, her presence brings back the past in a violent, magical way.

Beau Is Afraid – In Theaters April 21st

This surrealist comedy horror film from Hereditary and Midsommar director Ari Aster stars Joaquin Phoenix as the titular character, an anxiety-ridden man who embarks on a surreal odyssey home after his mother suddenly dies, confronting his greatest fears along the way.

Somewhere In Queens – In Theatres April 21st

Leo and Angela Russo live a simple life in Queens, surrounded by their overbearing Italian-American family. When their son ‘Sticks’ finds success on his high school basketball team, Leo tears the family apart trying to make it happen.

Master Gardener – In Theatres May 19th

  • Starring Joel Edgerton, Sigourney Weaver, Victoria Hill, Quintessa Swindell

A meticulous horticulturist who is devoted to tending the grounds of a beautiful estate and pandering to his employer, the wealthy dowager.

The film had its world premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival on September 3, 2022.
